Finding Your X站福利所

All first-year students enroll in a Finding Your X站福利所 (FYC) course during the fall term. This course provides students with information about how to succeed academically at X站福利所. FYC includes peer mentors comprised of returning students who help incoming first-year students adapt to the challenges that their first year of college might bring.

Overview

In FYC, first-year students will develop close working relationships with their professors and classmates while experiencing the personalized education that is a major part of the X站福利所 experience. You will be introduced to the academic, co-curricular and community resources available at X站福利所 to help ensure your academic success.

Curriculum

Finding Your X站福利所 has four primary goals:

  1. Provide a personal group learning situation where you engage with other students and faculty in an intensive intellectual experience.
  2. Introduce and practice the concepts of time management, critical thinking, and effective communication (oral and written) and their role in academic success.
  3. Facilitate the transition to college, connection to resources and design of a X站福利所 experience that best fits your aspirations.
  4. Introduce the notion of understanding your role as a global citizen in today's diverse and ever changing world.

My time as an FYC Mentor has been one of my most rewarding X站福利所 experiences. I was able to make connections with first years and grow with them along the way. As I watch them learning in the FYC sessions, I realize I'm also learning new things as well. Through the joint effort of my FYC cohort team we create a space of support, leadership and listening.
